Fabrizio Bianchi

I hold a Master of Science degree in Biological Science and a PhD in Molecular and Cell biology from the University of Milan, Italy. I was a visiting scientist at the Nuffield Department of Clinical and Laboratory Sciences, University of Oxford (UK), where I pioneered microarray gene expression profile of early-stage lung cancer and prognostic biomarkers identification. I am an inventor of international patents regarding blood-based diagnostic (circulating miRNAs) and prognostic biomarkers for lung cancer patients (US8747867B2; US20150057159A1; US20160068913A1; EP4012047A1). Currently, I direct the Unit of Cancer Biomarkers at IRCCS Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza Foundation. My research interests are focused on comprehension of the mechanisms of lung cancer progression by investigating cancer transcriptome, as well as the identification of cancer biomarkers for early-diagnosis and for developing better therapeutic strategies to combat lung cancer. Outsides my job as a scientist, I enjoy spending quality time and creating the most beautiful memories with my family.
